Hearing protectors are the obvious solution, but there are many forms available and the you may well not be aware of full range of possibilities and their relative advantages and disadvantages.

This is especially so as the may be other things to take into consideration, such as wearing other protective forms of equipment such as e.g. hard hats, dust masks and eye protection or even just glasses or hearing aids.

Of course, one thing to remeber in all this is is that it could be the effect that lack of noise protection for yourself could lead to problems for others.  For example, loss of your hearing through being subject to excessive noise could me that others start to be affected.

Eventually everything becomes muffled and you may find it difficult to catch sounds like 't', 'd' and 's' and therefore confuse similar words.
